Create

What was the last thing you created? Or let me ask you what was the last thing you created for yourself? Because, as we all would testify, most of us create everyday at our jobs. But had it not been for the job would you have still created what you created at work? And that's why I ask you again when was the last time you created something for yourself? If it's taking you a lot of time to remember, I can tell you that you have kept your heart from experiencing aspecial kind of joy for a very long time.
I genuinely believe that every such creation of ours is an extension of our own selves. If there's anything that's you other than you, it is what you created. Those scribbled notes, that unfinished word document, that canvas you wanted to fill with the colors absent in your world, that musical piece you created, somewhere they're all you or they were in the process of being you.
When your time ends in this world, what you create will live on as the remnants of your sojourn here. There will be many things in life you will buy and call yours. But how much will they be truly yours? You only have the material power to call it yours and it is quite possible that someone else with more material power would have paid for it to call it his/her. Your real possessions are your creations, the ones you create for yourself. And Irrespective of the world's judgment, your creation remains solely yours.
There's a very special joy in seeing something come to fruition whose origins you know lie in the inner realms of your heart. It doesn't need to be a Van Gogh's Starry Nights or Beethoven's 9th symphony or Henley's Invictus. But it can surely be your happiness or peace of mind. And who doesn't want it in a world like ours? And even if it doesn't pan out the way you wished, you can always take heart in the fact that you tried to create. For when you create, you add something to the universe that had hitherto not existed. And most of the times, if done with a pure heart, that's something to be proud of. After all, Not every species on this planet is blessed with the ability to harness their mental and physical energies to give life to something new as we are. You are. Your creation is your expression. It's the language to speak to the universe because it's the language in which the universe spoke to this world. And if the universe or its language doesn't concern you, even then create. For in creation also lies a sense of freedom. Let the bottled emotions find an escape in your creations.
So, create. Not for the world but for yourself. For way too long you have been a consumer of creativity. It's time to become a creator. So, go ahead, pick up the pen or the paintbrush or the chisel or the guitar today and create for yourself. You deserve to enjoy the pleasure of creating and the pleasures of creation.
